LIST OF COMPETENCIES

This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to apply verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with people in the security industry. It requires the ability to accurately receive and relay information, and to complete routine correspondence and documentation. The unit also requires the ability to adapt interpersonal styles and techniques to varying social and cultural environments.

This unit may form part of the licensing requirements for persons engaged in security operations in those states and territories where these are regulated activities. In order to prepare for your assessment of this unit of competency you must read and understand the subject matter relevant to the unit and also develop and gain understanding of the principles of security by reading and researching the recommended texts. It is recommended that you extend your preparation to appropriate websites, industry journals and forums.

 

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty. The unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
